Rare Three-Gallon Cobalt-Stenciled Stoneware Jug, Stamped "WEBSTER & BERGEN / NORTH BAY," New York State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jug with semi-squared rim, decorated with a rare stenciled design featuring opposing classical seahorses. Area below decorated with a stenciled design resembling a pineapple. Brushed cobalt "3" to shoulder and cobalt brushwork over impressed marks. Cobalt touches along handle. 8" crack on front continuing onto underside, where it forms a Y. Spout chip. H 16".
