Four-Gallon Ovoid Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "NORTON & FENTON / BENNINGTON Vt.," circa 1845, ovoid jar with tall collar and applied lug handles, decorated with an artistically-rendered brushed cobalt flowering vine design. Poor restoration to a large U-shaped crack extending down from rim, under one handle, and up reverse side. (This restoration may follow the border of a large piece that was reglued.) Additional restoration to a horizontal crack extending off of this crack onto the reverse. 3" hairline from rim above one handle. Apparent restoration to rim, mostly associated with the previously-mentioned cracks. H 12 7/8".
