Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "L. NORTON & SON / BENNINGTON," Vermont origin circa 1835, ovoid jar with flared rim, tooled shoulder, and applied lug handles, cobalt-decorated with a large brushed tulip with circular blossom. Some in-the-firing dryness to front and back, not affecting decoration. Four small rim chips on reverse, one of which is glazed over. One small rim chip on front. 1 1/2" in-the-firing separation in one handle. Small Y-shaped surface lines on reverse, which appear to be in-the-firing. Faint 3" diagonal line at base on front. H 11".
