One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, ovoid form with pouring spout, handle on reverse, and applied clay ears with metal and wood bail handle. Decorated with two cobalt cone-shaped flowers on the front and wreath-like brushwork flanking the spout. Reverse decorated with a large conical flower extending from a leafy stem. Chips to interior of spout. Two rim chips. Areas of fry to cobalt. 4" crack from rim. 1 1/2" and 1" hairlines from rim. H 9 1/4".
