Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, with applied handles and semi-squared rim, decorated with a bright cobalt foliate design of three leaves and two flower buds extending from a central stem. Restoration to cracks on front, which extend around to sides and do not touch decoration. Restoration touches rim in some places. Restored cracks on reverse. Faint vertical hairline on front. Hairline under one handle. In-the-making chips to edge of underside. H 7" ; Diameter 10 1/2".
