Unusual Glazed Redware Jar with Elaborate Combed Decoration, New England origin, likely 18th century, ovoid jar with footed base and flared rim, decorated around the shoulder with dramatic wavy bands of composed incising. Surface covered in lead-based glaze applied in varying concentrations, ranging in color from tan, grayish, to shades of red. A small base chip. Spots of glaze wear to rim. A 5/8" in-the-firing ping to near base. H 9 1/8".
