Three Stoneware Advertising Jugs, NY State origin, circa 1875, a two-gallon example with slip-trailed cobalt inscription, "A. Schell, / 380 Broadway, / Albany.," stamped "OTTMAN BRO'S / & CO.. / FORT EDWARD . N.Y.;" a one-gallon example with slip-trailed cobalt inscription, "Ryan & Dunn. / 105 Hamilton St. / Albany / N.Y.;" and a half-gallon example with stenciled cobalt inscription, "J. McDONOUGH. / 611 & 613 BROADWAY. / ALBANY, N.Y." Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Half-gallon jug in excellent, essentially as-made condition with a large salt drip. One-gallon jug with some minor fry to cobalt, minor staining, and an in-the-firing separation to upper handle terminal, and two minor nicks to side of handle. Largest with a 1/2" spout chip, other minor spout chips, some fry to cobalt, and some staining. H (of tallest) 13 3/4".
