Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jugs, Norton Family, Bennington, VT, 19th century, a one-and-a-half-gallon cylindrical jug with slip-trailed crested bird on leaf motif, stamped "E & L P NORTON / BENNINGTON VT:," circa 1870; paired with a one-gallon ovoid jug with brushed floral motif, stamped "L. NORTON & SON," circa 1833-1841. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Bird jug with broken and reglued handle and a large spider crack to base area. Floral jug with staining and an adhered piece of clay to top of spout and handle. H (of shorter) 12".
