Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX. / HARRISBURG. PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a stem bearing an open tulip and tulip bud. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Two short, vertical lines at base on front, likely in the making. A very short in-the-firing line in top of spout. Some in-the-firing mottling to surface and light bubbling to cobalt. H 14".
