Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, Western PA origin, circa 1880, each of ovoid form with flattened rim, one brush-decorated with stripes, the other decorated with swags between two stripes. Taller with a short, faint line from rim, a faint, vertical spider line to midsection, a minor in-the-firing ping to front, an in-the-firing base chip, a small piece of adhered clay to proper right side, and staining. Other jar with a 2 1/4", shallow in-the-firing flake (contact mark) to underside/bottom edge, a small glazed-over chip to exterior of rim, and a small in-the-firing chip to interior of rim. H (of taller) 6 3/4".
