Four Excavated Stoneware Jugs, Edward Webster Pottery, Fayetteville, NC, circa 1820, all excavated at the Edward Webster pottery in Fayetteville, NC, each of ovoid form with tooled spout, iron-washed surface, and faint to non-existent salt glaze. One heavily fragmented example bears the stamp, "EDWARD," at the shoulder, a partial stamp of the very rare "EDWARD WEBSTER" maker's mark. Smallest in excellent condition with a flake to underside. Another with partially restored spout, the restoration left unglazed, in otherwise excellent condition. One with broken and reglued spout with additional spout chip, in otherwise excellent condition. Marked example reglued from fragments with significant losses. All flecked with old white paint. H (of smallest) 11".
