Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar from the First Wood Firing of the Dr. Arthur F. and Esther Goldberg Edgefield Pottery Kiln, Incised "Pottersville, / Edgefield District / S.C. / July 2 , 2011" and "1st firing / Stephen Ferrell," 2011, ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim, incised "Pottersville, / Edgefield District / S.C." on the front and "July 2 , 2011" on the reverse. Underside incised "1st firing / Stephen Ferrell" indicating the jar was produced during the 1st wood firing of the Arthur and Esther Goldberg Edgefield Pottery Kiln, underscored by an impressed design of a jar with "ED / SC" on interior. Lot includes the booklet, "Edgefield County Historical Society 2011 Summer Meeting: A Celebration of Edgefield Pottery, The Dedication of The Dr. Arthur F. and Esther Goldberg Edgfield Pottery Kiln Project and a Fourth of July Celebration." Jar in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Booklet is warped. H 10 1/2".
