Ten-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Tornado and Apple Decoration, Roseville, OH origin, circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, arched lug handles, and rounded rim, brush-decorated with the number, "10," surrounded by stylized "tornado" motifs and a wavy stripe. Remainder of front further decorated with apple, leaf, and additional tornado motifs, as well as S-scroll flourishes. Staining to surface, including a stained horizontal surface line across shoulder on front, not visible on interior. A 6 1/2" Y-shaped line near base on reverse, not visible on interior. A long crack to underside, extending 6 1/2" up proper right side of crock. H 16 1/2".
