Rare Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HIGGINS & CO / CLEVELAND O," circa 1840, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a large four-blossomed tulip plant ascending the front. Cobalt highlights to front of handles. A 4" X-shaped line near base on front, not visible on interior. A 4" Y-shaped line to proper right side of jar near base, not visible on interior. Small rim chips. A small C-shaped in-the-firing ping to underside, not visible on interior. H 19 1/2".
