Fine Ten-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, OH origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and extruded lug handles, brush-decorated with group of conjoined stems bearing two round blossoms or pieces of fruit flanking a large drooping blossom with diamond-patterned petals. Freehand "X" below, signifying ten gallons. Strong decoration and exceptional size. This crock has not been measured by us with liquid to determine capacity. Three cracks from rim on front, measuring approximately 5", 5", and 3 1/4". Small chips to both handles. Staining to base. H 16 1/2".
