Scarce Six-Gallon Glazed Redware Churn, Galena, IL origin, second half 19th century, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, the lead-glazed surface featuring a colorful orange spotting against an olive ground. Incised "6" at shoulder. Heavy wear to rim. Some expected wear to interior of rim. Glaze spalling, wear, and surface-level cracks to body of churn, not visible on interior. Areas of exfoliation to interior. A 1 1/8" in-the-firing iron ping at base. A 1 1/2" chip to underside at edge. H 18 1/4".
