Glazed Anna Pottery Stoneware Dung Beetle Paperweight, Signed "Anna / ill / 1881," Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, 1881, featuring two hand-modeled dung beetles pushing a ball of dung atop a circular base with scored surface. Original black paint to dung beetles, light salt glaze to dung ball and Albany slip glaze to edge of paperweight. Dung ball incised, "Home manufact." Base incised "Home industry." Underside incised "Anna / ill / 1881." Excellent, essentially as-made condition with small in-the-firing ping to bottom edge of paperweight. Diam. 3 1/8".
