Very Rare Stoneware Jar with Incised Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. BOYNTON," Albany, NY origin, circa 1816-1818, ovoid jar with heavily tooled shoulder and rounded handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a large incised and cobalt-highlighted dogwood flower with "hollow" oval details to petal interiors. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed with short-lived Jonah Boynton maker's mark near midsection. Desirable maker's mark and "Washington Street" floral motif. Chips around rim. A recessed area at midsection with small piece of adhered clay. A small, partially-glazed over base chip. Some minor surface wear. H 11 1/2".
