Rare Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Star Motifs, Stenciled "SIBB J. BEIGHEL," Pleasant Unity, Westmoreland County, PA, circa 1870-1880, semi-ovoid jar with semi-rounded rim and tooled banding to midsection and shoulder, decorated with eight stenciled stars of various sizes below a stenciled "2." Sibb J. Beighel maker's stenciling above. In-the-firing spalling to cobalt on maker's stenciling. A few in-the-firing contact marks to surface. Some in-the-firing mottling to clay. H 12 1/2".
