Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Stamped "BROWN POTTERY," Arden, NC origin, circa 1930, ovoid jug with tall, narrow spout, decorated with a hand-modeled and applied clay face including eyes with pierced pupils, eyebrows, small ears with pierced interiors, nose with carved nostrils, and open mouth with two broken china teeth. Incised details to eyelids and eyebrows. Surface covered in a mottled brown Albany slip glaze. Underside impressed with small Brown Pottery maker's mark and incised "47." Very nice condition with a few narrow in-the-firing flakes to bottom edge and two minor spout nicks. H 7".
