One-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "D S," Daniel Seagle, Vale, NC, circa 1840, ovoid jar with rounded rim and sloped lug handles, the surface covered in an olive-colored alkaline glaze with darker runs descending from the rim and upper body. Impressed "D S" on one handle and "1" on opposing handle. Excellent condition with two minor chips to one handle and a small amount of in-the-firing residue to shoulder. H 10 1/2".
