Three-Gallon Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug, Catawba Valley of NC origin, third quarter 19th century, highly ovoid jug with semi-squared spout and ribbed handle, the surface covered in a streaky, olive-colored alkaline glaze. Impressed "3" below spout. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a few in-the-firing chips to bottom edge. H 16".
