Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1875, ovoid jar with tall, flaring collar and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with pairs of tulips ascending the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a wavy line of cobalt below each handle. Heavy staining to surface. An area of spalling to slip on one handle terminal. A minor rim nick. Some minor exfoliation to collar. Meandering lines around base area. A 2" cross-shaped surface line below one handle. Wear to slip on interior. Some fry to cobalt. H 14".
