One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1855, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a bird perched on a branch. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Staining to surface. A minor chip and nick to bottom edge. A 1 1/2" line to upper handle terminal. A tiny piece of salt residue to shoulder on reverse. A small in-the-firing iron ping near base on proper left side of jug. H 11 1/4".
