Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Ochre Floral Decoration, Stamped "NORTON & FENTON, / East Bennington, Vt.," circa 1844-1847, highly-ovoid jug with squared spout, decorated with a finely-brushed design of a stem bearing five blossoms. Brushed ochre highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A restored spout chip. Restored to base of decoration and area between two lowest flowers of decoration. H 13 1/2".
