One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1855, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large, slip-trailed floral sprays. Cobalt highlight to shoulder. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. Thin cracks throughout. Proper left handle with a small chip and minor nick. Proper right handle with a small chip and very minor wear. A few rim chips and some wear to rim. Staining to surface. A small in-the-firing iron ping to front. H 9".
