Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated with a stylized floral design featuring a circular blossom accented with dashed trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes early dasher and later wooden lid. Provenance: Herb and Carol Hausmann Collection. A 4 1/2" surface line near shoulder, not visible on interior. A 1" rim chip on front and a few other small rim chips. Heavy wear to inner rim for lid. A 7 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim on reverse, adjoining a 7" spider crack to proper left side of churn. H (excluding dasher) 18 1/4".
