Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "ALBANY N Y," probably O'Connell Pottery, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with fan-shaped tail, perched on a stump. Slip-trailed "2." Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A long, professionally restored diagonal crack extending from rim on front through bird's head. This crack is unrestored in the bird's head and includes touch-up to the back of the bird and minor touch-up to the beak. A 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" broken section on reverse, which has been professionally colored along the break. H 8 7/8".
