Two Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Bowls, Edgefield District, SC origin, third quarter 19th century, each of flaring form with semi-rounded rims, featuring brown-to-olive and olive-colored surfaces, the larger with applied handles. Provenance: Richard and Cindy Pearce Collection. Larger with significant wear and chips to rim, flakes to one handle, and a short line on underside, continuing partway up wall of bowl. Smaller bowl with a faint Y-shaped surface line on interior wall, becoming a crack that extends across underside, continuing as a restored crack on wall of bowl, extending to rim. Otherwise excellent condition. Dimensions (of larger): 12 3/4" x 6 1/4".
