Early-Period Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Lid, Signed "LM," Lanier Meaders, Cleveland, GA, circa 1960s, cylindrical jar with thin, semi-rounded rim, the surface covered in a dark-olive alkaline glaze. Includes original tooled lid with pointed finial and matching glaze. Underside inscribed with the large, black-slip initials, "LM," a desirable, early form of signature for this potter. Provenance: Frank W. White Collection. Jar in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Lid with a 1" flake to underside at edge and minor edge chip, possibly in-the-firing. H (including lid) 9".
