Salt-Glazed Stoneware Oyster with Wooden Lid, probably Thomas Commeraw, Corlears Hook, Manhattan, NY, early 19th century, cylindrical form with footed base and narrow, recessed mouth. Includes well-fitting, turned wooden lid with raised finial. A diagonal, approximately 6" line ascending from base, which is sealed with candle wax. A 3/4" in-the-making chip at base, which is glazed over. Wooden lid with a chip to edge and a two vertical dents to base of lid. H (excluding lid) 6 3/4".
