One-Gallon Stoneware Jar Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1865, ovoid jar with flattened rim, brush-decorated with a daisy flanked by graduated daubs. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Provenance: Eleanor Stipp Collection (includes red Stipp Collection label on reverse and underside); Herb and Carol Hausmann Collection. Traces of old green paint and staining to surface. A Y-shaped line to underside, extending 1" up proper left side of jar. A 3" diagonal surface line below decoration, not visible on interior. A 1 1/2" Y-shaped line beside decoration, not visible on interior. Some surface-level spider lines near base on reverse, not visible on interior. H 8 1/4".
