Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1865, ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, brush-decorated with a daisy flanked by graduated pairs of swags. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Provenance: Herb and Carol Hausmann Collection. Shallow in-the-firing chipping to spout. In-the-firing base chips. An approximately 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" Y-shaped line at base, extending 1/2" onto underside. Staining to surface. H 13 1/2".
