Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Leaf Decoration, Stamped "N. A. WHITE & SON, / UTICA, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of three conjoined leaves. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: William Bouck Collection. A long, thin T-shaped crack at base on front, forming a sealed Y on underside. Some in-the-firing contact residue near base on front. Some in-the-firing discoloration to base. Two rim chips on reverse. Some staining. H 11 5/8".
