Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jug with Impressed Punctates, Edgefield District, SC, third quarter 19th century, ovoid jug with small, semi-squared spout, the surface covered in a glossy light-brown alkaline glaze accented with blackish flecks and grayish runs. Impressed with two unusual, circular punctates at shoulder on reverse. Provenance: Richard and Cindy Pearce Collection. Restoration to a 1/2" x 3/16" spout chip and some coloring to top of spout. A 3 1/2" scratch or tight line to shoulder. Two small base chips. H 14 3/8".
