Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "X," Edgefield District or Columbia, SC origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and thin, semi-squared rim, the surface covered in a mottled gray-green to dark-olive alkaline glaze with high gloss. Metallic brown highlights to base. Impressed "X" at shoulder. Provenance: Richard and Cindy Pearce Collection. Excellent condition with a small rim chip. H 9 3/8".
