Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Clabber Bowl with Kaolin Slip Decoration, attributed to Thomas Chandler, Edgefield District, SC, circa 1850, flaring form with coved rim molding and applied handle, the surface covered in slip-trailed looping drape motif against a gray-green alkaline-glazed ground. Provenance: From a fifty-year SC collection. A 7 1/2" diagonal crack from rim. A 2" x 1 1/4" inverted T-shaped line at shoulder on reverse, visible as a 2" vertical line on interior of shoulder. A line in base of handle. H 17 1/4" ; Diam. (at rim) 9 3/8".
