Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Dated "1864," Beaver, PA origin, 1864, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, flattened rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with two bold freehand stripes below the date, "1864." Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A 10 1/2" crack from rim on front. A 1 5/8" crack from rim on reverse. A 2 3/4" Y-shaped separation on interior of rim. Some surface wear to cobalt and body of jar. A small in-the-firing ping to one handle. Edge wear to both handles. Jar is slightly out-of-round. H 11 3/4".
