Two Marked Yellowware Dishes, PA origin, circa 1870s, both of similar flare-rimmed form, one with relief stylized foliate pattern, stamped "FIRE PROOF / J.E. JEFFORDS & CO. / Phila. / Patented June 28 1870," the other with relief plaque on underside bearing the impressed mark, "PATd / MAY 30 / 1874," used by the Schreiber pottery of Phoenixville, PA. Jeffords dish in excellent condition with a minor rim nick and a 1 3/4" surface line on underside, not visible on interior. Schreiber dish with a 1 3/4" hairline from rim, in otherwise excellent condition. Dimensions (of Jeffords dish): 12 1/2" x 3 3/8".
