One-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Maysville, KY Advertising, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and flattened rim, featuring the stenciled cobalt advertising, "G.A. McCARTHEY / & BRO. / MAYSVILLE / KY." Freehand stripe decoration below rim and at base. A 1" chip and 1/2" chip to interior of rim. Some small spots of wear to cobalt. Two minor base chips, one of which is glazed over. Light surface staining. H 9 1/2".
