One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a curved-stem tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. A 1 3/4" hairline from rim on side of jar. A stained rim chip on front and a minor chip to interior of rim.. Chips to inner rim for lid. A small glazed-over iron ping to midsection on front. Staining to surface. Paint residue to underside. H 9 1/2".
