Fine Six-Gallon Stoneware Churn with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "OTTMAN BRO'S / & CO. / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, ovoid churn with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a large slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stump. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes Albany-slip-glazed lid, likely original to the churn. Churn in excellent condition with minor nicks and light wear to inner rim for lid, very minor staining to reverse, and some very minor in-the-firing flaws to surface, including a small ping below bird and small ping to one handle. Lid with a 7/8" chip and light edge wear. H (excluding lid) 18 1/2".
