Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Double Bird Decoration, Stamped "S. HART / FULTON," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of crossed bird accents with spot, perched atop a looping flourish. Slip-trailed "3" with flourish below to left of decoration. Slip-trailed stripes to maker's mark. A professionally-restored top-to-bottom crack from rim on reverse. A faint 7" vertical line descending from shoulder to midsection on reverse. A 3/4" in-the-firing fissure to one handle. A tiny in-the-firing ping to front and reverse. Spots of staining. H 10 1/4".
