Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES.UTICA," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a fan-tailed bird perched on a leafy branch. Cobalt accents to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 1 3/4" flake to interior of rim. A 5/8" glazed-over chip to interior of rim. Heavy chipping to one handle. Lesser chipping to other handle. Some fry to cobalt. H 9 5/8".
