One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Bowl with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1865, low-sided form with rounded sides, tooled shoulder, and flattened rim, brush-decorated with a leafy stem culminating in a flower bud. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Staining to surface. A rim chip on reverse and tiny rim chip to side of rim. A top-to-bottom crack from rim on side of bowl, extending across underside, where it forms a tight X. Part of this X extends 1 3/4" up reverse of bowl, where it forms a tight Y. Additionally, a 2 1/2" hairline from rim and a 2" hairline from rim. Dimensions: 11 1/2" x 6".
