Rare Glazed Redware Ale Mug with Two-Color Slip Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL," Waynesboro, PA, circa 1845, thin-walled, stylishly-potted mug with coved and footed base, ovoid body, and cylindrical collar, the collar decorated with heavy manganese sponging and the interior of the rim and handle decorated with copper sponging, all under a clear lead glaze. Areas of professional restoration to foot. A few small restored rim chips. A 2" hairline to collar. Minor rim nicks. H 5 3/4".
