Six-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "R.C.R. / PHILA.," Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1870, ovoid jar with flared base, tall collar, and ribbed lug handles, brush-decorated with a horizontal tulip motif on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a line of cobalt below each handle. Impressed with "R.C.R. / PHILA." maker's mark on side of jar. Jar is out-of-round. A 1 1/2" chip to one handle. Minor chips and nicks to interior of rim. Some fry to cobalt. A thin piece of adhered clay near base. H 16 3/8".
