Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Stenciled Rose Motif, Stenciled "T,D, HARDEN . / PALATINE, W. VA.," circa 1875, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring T.D. Harden maker's stenciling with curve to the town name, "PALATINE," surrounding a stenciled rose. Base with stenciled "3" flanked by stenciled floral motifs. A 1 1/4" chip to interior of rim. A 1/2" surface-level crack to interior of rim. A 3 3/8" line to underside, extending 1 1/4" up base. Some in-the-making scratches to base area on front, which are glazed over. H 13 3/4".
