Large-Sized Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Pear Motif, Stenciled "PALATINE POTTERY CO / PALATINE / W VA," circa 1875, tapered jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, featuring Palatine Pottery Company maker's stenciling surrounding a stenciled pear. Freehand stripe decoration below rim and at base. A long, slightly-recessed in-the-firing contact mark to right side of jar. Interior of rim with a 5/8" chip and small nicks. Inner wax sealer rim with a 1" chip and a few tiny nicks. H 10 1/4".
