Very Rare Cobalt-Banded Stoneware Water Cooler, Stamped "C. CROLIUS / NEW-YORK," Clarkson Crolius, Sr. or Jr., Manhattan, NY, circa 1825, keg-shaped form with raised and cobalt-highlighted banding and circular bunghole, impressed with large "C. CROLIUS / NEW-YORK" maker's mark and shoulder. Professional restoration to most or all of spout. Flange on interior of rim with significant chipping and wear. Restored rim chips. A restored 5 5/8" crack from rim on reverse, terminating in a restored chip to one band. A 2 1/2" unrestored crack on underside forming a 6" restored crack ascending base on reverse, including some restoration to raised bands. Large restored base chips. Small unrestored base chips. H 12 3/4".
